2017 Steam & Ale Trail Update

Event dates: Saturday 10th June and Sunday 11th June

This event is the brother of our hugely popular Beer and Music Festival which takes place every October. For this event, however, we do things a little differently – the Steam and Ale Trail is a 5-mile long ale trail where you can hop off at each station to enjoy a pint of fine Yorkshire ale from a selection of local breweries. So you don’t get thirsty between stations, or if you just fancy a relaxing train ride, our on-train bars will also be in operation serving a rotating selection of both local beers and beers from other parts of the country.

Details have now been published of the format of the event with train timetables, alcoholic drink lists, station activities and entertainment all now available on the Steam & Ale Trail event page of the website.

Locomotive Roster for Weekend 27th & 28th May and Half Term Week 2017

Over the May half-term week, it is planned to have a 3 engine line up with BR Class 4MT 4-6-0 75078 taking the lion’s share of the work, operating on 5 days. On Sunday and Monday Bank Holiday, 75078 will be joined by USA S160 2-8-0 5820.

In addition, it is a Diesel & Ale Day on Saturday with Class 25 059 providing the diesel service throughout the day.

The daily line-up will be as follows

And don’t forget, every day Tuesday – Friday, a Vintage Bus service, free to Rover ticket holders, will be operating between Oxenhope and Haworth giving unrivalled views across the Worth Valley. If the weather is warm and bright an open top double decker may be provided for this service.

Whilst every effort will made to ensure that the advised motive power is available, the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway reserve the right to change this when operational circumstances so dictate.

Saturday Mainline Diesel Service 28th May 2016

This weekend sees the second of the Railway’s steam and diesel Saturdays. A special timetable operates in conjunction with the Steam & Ale Trail with the all line railcar turns taken over by locomotive hauled passenger stock.

However the Class 101 diesel multiple unit will also be out and about, operating a Keighley – Damems shuttle in between the all line services. This service departs on the arrival of the train from Oxenhope. Keighley will be a hive of activity with steam, mainline diesel and railcar services arriving and departing all day.

From the first service in the morning at 09.00 to the last diesel service of the day, motive power will be provided by English Electric Class 37 37 075.
