Spring 2015 in Photos

Spring was a busy time on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway starting with Easter at the beginning of April. We introduced a new, once a month diesel locomotive service and over the Bank Holiday weekend, The Railway Children’s Weekend followed by the Haworth 1940s Weekend. Event organisers continued their hard work with a very successful 3 day visit to the Railway by the famous bear from Peru, Paddington, and our photographic look is back rounded off with West Country Pacific, 34092 ‘Wells’ drawing the crowds at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway’s Steam to West event. High Praise for Diesel Gala Weekend

Visiting locomotives this year were drawn from three Midlands’ railways. From the Battlefield Line at Shackerstone came Class 25, D5217, from the Great Central at Loughborough came ochre liveried Class 31, D5830 and third of the trio was Class 33, 33 035 normally resident on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway.

The visitors complemented the home fleet of Class 20 20 031, Class 25 25 059, Class 37 37 075 and 0-6-0 D0226 ‘Vulcan’ with a cameo appearance of D32, the newly restored Mersey Docks and Harbour Board 0-6-0 shunter.

2014 Diesel Gala 6th – 8th June Full Line-up

The Diesel Gala weekend sees all our services operated by our own and visiting diesel locomotives dating from the 1950s and 1960s. With the 2014 Diesel Gala now less than a month away the full line-up of diesels has now been finalised and will feature 3 visiting mainline diesels.

D5217Class 25 no. D5217 normally based at the Battlefield Line in Leicestershire
33-035Class 33 no. 33 035, owned by the Pioneer Diesel Loco Group, is normally based at the Ecclesbourne Valley Line in Derbyshire and this is the first time the loco has operated on any other railway in preservation.
