Locomotive Roster Wednesday 11th October and weekend 14th & 15th October 2017

We are now into the 3rd week of the mid-week diesel railcar service with 6 round trips starting at 10.00. The service will be operated by the Class 101 diesel multiple unit which will also will be on the Saturday and Sunday diesel services.

Ian Riley’s LMS ‘Black 5’ 4-6-0 44871 duly arrived on Friday and took up its duties on Saturday and Sunday, so giving the home fleet a well earned rest and providing not a small amount of excitement amongst the railway enthusiast community. The photographs below show the locomotive having arrived at Keighley and then in poor conditions on Saturday but sunshine on Sunday operating the steam service over 2 very popular days with the travelling public.

The visitor will once again head all steam services over this coming weekend

Locomotive Roster Wednesday 4th October and weekend 7th & 8th October 2017

Last week saw the introduction of the mid-week diesel railcar service with 6 round trips starting at 10.00. The service will be operated by the Class 101 diesel multiple unit which will also will be on the Saturday and Sunday diesel services.

Following publication of the roster last week, this was revised when we announced that ‘Black 5’ 44871 would be arriving and would be at the head of steam services over the weekend. Unfortunately its movement from Fort William was cancelled so services resorted to the home fleet in the shape of 4F 43924. Although currently marooned somewhere between Fort William and Keighley, we are confident it will arrive this week and take it’s place at the head of the steam service this weekend. Should its arrival be delayed again, we will issue an amendment as soon as we can.

Members: Don’t forget, this weekend is the AGM of the KWVRPS with all members welcome. Full details about venue and free travel on the Railway are available HERE >>>

Locomotive Roster Weekend 30th September & 1st October 2017 Update

There is a potential change to the locomotive roster for this weekend. As part of the agreement to overhaul ‘Black 5’ 45212, the KWVR has call on the locomotive for a set number of months each year or an alternative locomotive if 45212 is unavailable. Accordingly ‘Black 5’ 44871 will be arriving this week to honour that agreement.

Ian Riley’s own ‘Black 5′ no. 44871 will arrive with us in time for the weekend and it’ is planned (subject to the usual availability) that the engine will be used on the steam services this weekend in place of 43924.

On Saturday, Class 20, 20 031, will haul the final Diesel & Ale Day service of the year on Saturday and the Class 101 diesel multiple unit will operate the diesel service on Sunday.
