The railway is now over 150 years old with much of the infrastructure dating back to the earliest days of the KWVR in the nineteenth century. As you would expect, some of the Railway’s structures are succumbing to the passage of time and one such is Bridge 11, the first bridge your train crosses after leaving Ingrow Tunnel. As a result, we really need your help to the finance its replacement.
Bridge 11 at Ingrow is a major bridge dating back to the 1800’s. It’s now coming to the end of its useful life and needs replacing at a cost of £120,000 – as a charity this is a huge amount for us to find. Work is underway on the concrete beams, and this week they have been inspected at the maker’s works. The beams will be lifted in place by road crane and with the help of Bahamas Loco Society, a 50 ton steam crane in Spring 2020, we’ll keep you updated with our progress.
