Locomotive Roster for Weekend 24th & 25th February and mid-week 28th February 2018

Firstly, an apology for the lack of a notification last week of the locomotive for last weekend. It was unclear until Friday which locomotive would provide the power over the weekend, with final choice being on loan visitor LMS 5MT 4-6-0 44871. This weekend will see MR 4F 0-6-0 43924 on a 4 coach train, including real ale buffet car.

The diesel service will be in the capable hands of our 1958 vintage railbus M79964, well worth taking a journey in this vehicle which celebrates its 60th birthday this year. In addition the mid-week diesel railcar service will again have M79964 in action

On Saturday the first train departs Oxenhope (diesel railcar) at 09.00 with 43924 operating from 11.00 and on Sunday, the first passenger service is steam hauled at 10.15, working a two train service with the diesel railbus.

Whilst every effort will made to ensure that the advised motive power is available, the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway reserve the right to change this when operational circumstances so dictate.

  1. Hello, I will be More interested I news from the loco shed on the W-D 2-8-0 and its boiler and that is intended procedure for this warhorse of a locomotive she the only one in existence to me and many others she as Special as Mallard is to the NRM and our nation

    • This loco has been retired due to boiler problems. With 2 locomotives coming back into use, there is no urgency for its return to traffic and so it will be laid aside until money and resources can be found to restore it. However it will be restored at some time, as part of the lottery funding to restore it originally was on the understanding that when its 10 year certificate expires, it will be restored again.
