    • When built in 1949, 34092 had a high sided tender and was un-named. Soon after the locomotive was named ‘Wells’. Hence with a high sided tender and early BR emblem on the tender the name ‘Wells’ is very appropriate and not an indication that the ‘City of Wells’ nameplates have been mislaid. The name ‘City of Wells’ was bestowed on the locomotive in 1950.
