We reported some time ago about the exploits of our very own man of the airwaves, long standing working member, Jack Proctor. Whilst Jack’s working days as a volunteer came to an end some time ago (some may recognise him from his days as Santa on Santa Specials), he visits the Railway from his home in Chorley, whenever he can, especially to broadcast from the Railway to other radio amateurs across the UK and Europe.
This Sunday Jack, his son Mark and daughter-in-law, Pam will be taking part in ‘Railways on the Air’ from Ingrow yard near the Museum of Rail Travel. This is an event supported by radio amateurs from preserved railways across the country to promote Amateur Radio while helping to celebrate the unique position railways hold in our national heritage. You can read more about this event at the ‘Railways on the Air‘ website.
If you are down at Ingrow this Sunday, say hello to this merry band and help spread the word about the Railway to a wider audience.
The photo above shows Jack on a previous visit when Oakworth was his broadcasting base.
