Those visiting Haworth over the weekend will have noted one well known absentee, MR 4F 0-6-0 43924. Having announced recently that the engine will be leaving the Railway for the first time since arrival from Barry scrapyard to take part in the Severn Valley Railway Autumn Gala, this has, in fact, proved incorrect.
Over the last week or so, 43924, built in 1920, has in fact returned to the city of its birth, Derby, to take part in Bombardier Transportation’s internal celebration of 150 years of the Derby works.
The top photograph shows 43924 on an internal shuttle service and the main photograph shows the engine posing with more modern stock currently under construction within the works.
