Work progresses on Keighley signalling and signal box

S&T-Week-140512-2This week the Railway is closed to the public for our annual “S&T Week” (Signals & Telegraph). With a target of commissioning the signal box and the whole installation in time for the 50th anniversary in 2018, the Railway is in the process of working towards completion of the project that has been undertaken for a number of years.

This week  jobs have included extending the lever frame to an impressive 32 levers, digging under bridge 72 for lineside signalling equipment to be installed and much more!

  1. A very nice photo at Keighley station. I helped acquire the water column for the railway in the early 1980s from the NCB. It was located at Manvers Main Colliery near the Sheffield to Swinton railway line. It appears similar in design to those used by the GNR/LNER.
I also helped buy the signal box from Shipley station when it was taken out of use, and look forward to it being brought into use on the railway.
Kind regards for an excellent and informative website, David R Smith
