Ever since MR built 4F 0-6-0 43924 arrived from Barry, Glamorgan in September 1968 as the first engine to be rescued from the South Wales scrapyard of Dai Woodham, the engine has never ventured away from its home branch line. That is until now.
It has been announced that the Severn Valley Railway is to play host to the 4F, seen here waiting to back down on Keighley Bank, as a guest engine at its Autumn Gala on September 18th -21st. This is a reverse loan to that in the Railway’s 2013 Autumn Steam Spectacular when the railway loaned GWR Hawksworth outside cylinder 0-6-0PT pannier tank no. 1501 from the Severn Valley.
